Oxymetholone, also known as Anadrol and Anapolon, is a synthetic androgen and anabolic steroid.
It acts as an AR agonist and is commonly used in the US for medical purposes such as treating anemia, osteoporosis, and HIV/AIDS wasting syndrome, as well as promoting weight gain and muscle growth.
Despite its benefits, oxymetholone can also have side effects including increased sexual desire, acne, and liver damage. Interestingly, oxymetholone was introduced for medical use in 1959 but was discontinued due to its high lipid toxicity.
Nowadays, its illicit use is limited due to the fact that it is a controlled substance in many countries.
